I'm a human being
Being happy and sane
Oh but human beings
we all need to quit
being inhumane
I don't want to say I'm right,
I just want you to know.
I think it's safe to say that everyone wants an identity and a belonging.
But I want to know why,
why do we have to hold on to something,
and try to be proud with it.
I'm no patriot,
I believe giving your life for the state is in my opinion not worth dying for.
I am a human being, of this world.
I don't like belonging to a certain country.
What benefits does it provide to me emotionally.
This land I stand on has been through so much more,
and we decided to claim it as our own.
We have a burning pride for this state.
But we can't even take care of one another.
And you can't see past the blood on my hands
To see that you've been aptly damned
To fail and fail again.
We have political divisions to attain "peace" within society,
and ostracise any trouble makers in the lot.
It's not solving anything,
instead unbalancing the power between countries and giving the people more pride.
I am very fortunate,
terribly terribly fortunate to be born in such a life.
I find it so difficult to think what if...
Cause I will never know how'd it feel.
To be standing on the outside,
looking in.
And as the flags are waving,
and hearts screaming,
I will not be part of your community.
Instead, just someone looking in.
And only some will ever wonder, what about them.
Bur.
God bless, Singapore.
